“I call on you, my God, for you will answer me; turn your ear to me and hear my prayer.” Psalm 27:6 NIV

Have you called “1 800 I DON’T CARE’? There is no such number, but it may seem like that when you call a company’s 800 number.
Have you bought something or had a problem with a product and called an 800 customer service line? After waiting on hold for what seemed the better part of the day, you are connected to someone who displays an attitude of: “I am only here for what they pay me and I really don’t care what your problem is.”
Congratulations! You reached the imaginary ‘1 800 I DON’T CARE!’ Some companies’ customer service lines seem to fit the imaginary number.
Aren’t you glad that you don’t get such a response when you call GOD? GOD always answers. You never get a busy signal. HE never puts you on hold. You are never forced to listen to music that you dislike. You never have to give your social security number, your date of birth, your mother’s maiden name or a pint of blood.
GOD knows who you are without you telling him. HE wants to talk with you. Chances are HE has been waiting for you to call HIM up. Of all GOD has to do, HE wants nothing more than for you to come to HIM in prayer. Prayers are always welcomed. Prayers of thanks, prayers for the needs of others, prayers for your needs and yes, even prayers for your wants (those personal wants that have nothing to do with need).
GOD simply wants for you to communicate with HIM. GOD’S personal line is “CALL ME, I CARE!” GOD answers your prayers.
Today’s prayer: “GOD MY CREATOR, Thank YOU for always being there for me and always hearing my every prayer. YOU always answer my prayers. When I listen carefully, I hear YOUR yes, no or wait. Amen.”
“You shall have no other gods before me.”

Has anyone ever made a suggestion to you which made you feel uncomfortable? Did they touch that nerve that sent a shiver throughout you reminding you of an error or shortcoming?
When we are on the receiving end of a suggestion that comes to close to home, it is time to pay attention. Ask yourself why. Ask yourself what is it that others see you need to do that you have not done for yourself.
GOD gave HIS path for your life in the Ten Commandments. These are not GOD’S Ten Suggestions. Again, these are not suggestions. GOD is not passive with HIS absolute Commandments. They are not take it or leave it maybes.
The Ten Commandments are not Ten Suggestions. Our dictionaries define suggestion as a recommendation, a proposal or a consideration. A commandment is defined as a divine rule, a rule that must be obeyed or a direct order. GOD’S Ten Commandments are direct orders to each of us.
We can be judgmental and see the shortcomings of others; their failures of keeping GOD’S Ten Commandments. Isn’t it time we look inward? Are you keeping GOD’S Ten Commandments? At any time in your life, there is one or more of HIS Commands that you are probably struggling with.
The Ten Commandments are today’s reading. Open your Bible and spend time with GOD and HIS absolute rules for you today.
Today’s prayer: GOD MY CREATOR, Thank YOU for laying out YOUR rules for me to live by. Thank YOU for telling me of the ten weaknesses of sin in this world that I am to avoid. I will follow YOUR Commandments. Amen.”

Do you want just a little more than you have? Would an extra weeks pay be helpful? How about a weeks worth of groceries for your family? Could you use a few days off?
What about a little more forgiveness or being a little closer to GOD? Being closer with GOD is easier than you might think.
Just a little more effort will give you a little more…more physical strength, more emotional strength and much more spiritual strength.
Most in this world are looking for more of everything, but want to give a little less or a lot less, rather than just a little more. Those who give a little less will get a little less and all too often will get a lot less. Just a little more will give you a little more or a lot more. A little less will eventually give you less and less and less.
Are you giving GOD enough? Is it just enough or a little extra? Is your ‘just a little more’ not just an extra twenty in the offering plate? A little more is just a little more time in prayer, just a little more volunteering at church, just a little more time with someone going through a difficult time and just a little more time reading and studying GOD’S Word.
There is more than just a little more waiting for you. All you have to do is put forth just a little more effort. By the way…when you think you have given just a little more, then do just a little more again.
Today’s prayer: “MY REDEEMING SAVIOUR, Thank YOU for all YOU have given me. I have received more than I have been given because YOU love me. Help me give to others just a little more. Amen.”

“If you believe only what you like in the gospel, and reject all you don’t like, it is not the gospel you believe but yourself.” (Augustine)
A great preacher once said most our trust in the Bible is like Bible roulette. We are content with most, but we will try to dodge the bullet of truth.
What do you really believe? Do you believe all of the Bible or do you pick and choose? While some practice forgetting certain Biblical instructions, others create their own teachings which are not from scripture.
Proverbs 30:5-6 tell us;
“Every word of God is flawless; he is a shield to those who take refuge in him. Do not add to his words, or he will rebuke you and prove you a liar.”
Too many are creating doctrine that does not come from scripture. Some are ignoring GOD’S word and adding their own. It doesn’t take long to see this new doctrine is not what GOD has told us.
How do you feel about abortion, sex outside of marriage, same sex relationships, pornography, drug use or other society accepting actions? Are you feeling the same as GOD instructed? If you are accepting of any of these things, do you feel you are more right than GOD?
Today’s prayer: “MY GOD, help me to stand firm in all YOU have taught me. Help me to accept all of YOUR Word and turn from those who would ignore YOUR promises and instructions. Amen.”
“You will not fear the terror of night, nor the arrow that flies by day, nor the pestilence that stalks in the darkness, nor the plague that destroys at midday.” Psalm 91:5 NIV
Read: Psalm 91
As kids, “I double dog dare you!” was a phrase we never wanted to hear. It echoed in our ears at a time we were too scared to act. Sometimes, the fear was for good reason and sometimes the fear was from Satan himself.
What we call fear may not be fear at all, but instead a good judgment of what we should and should not be doing. The other fear is being afraid of something which we have no reason to fear.
The fear which is good judgment is not really fear at all. It is respect. I met a south Texas rancher who said he was not afraid of rattlesnakes. He said he had a deep respect for them and gave them a wide berth.
What things in your life do you give a wide berth out of logical respect? And what things in this life to you have a fear that comes from Satan? We don’t have to fear those things that seem like obstacles and we don’t need to be ‘double dog dared’. All we need to do is to trust GOD.
Satan can turn simple fears into phobias. If we allow them, phobias can alter our relationship with others and with GOD. GOD gave us the common sense to know the difference in fears that plague us and in the respect for things which can really hurt us as well as respect for all that can help us. If you are not sure which is which, ask GOD.
Today’s prayer: “GOD MY FATHER, Thank YOU for giving me the ability to discern fear and respect. Help me today to reject the fears which come only from Satan. Be with me as I live my life for YOU. Amen.”
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.” Proverbs 3:5-6 NIV
Read: Proverbs 3:1-12
“Trust me!” Hearing this sometimes makes us even more skeptical. Why should we have to be told to trust someone when our trust should be freely given? Can you trust someone who has to ask to be trusted? The world we live in is less trusting than the times we might have grown up in. With predators, scammers and identity thieves we can justify being leery.
Other times, when we hear “Trust me”, we can take comfort in knowing we can trust another when things just are not going right. There are times we need to abandon our fears and feel the safety of trusting someone.
When do you trust and when do you question a trust? We all have been fooled before. Discernment is the key to finding real trust in others. Discernment is finding a spiritual peace, depending upon the HOLY SPIRIT to guide our thoughts and reasoning instead of trusting ourselves.
King David got it right when he said in Psalm 20:7; “Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the LORD our GOD.”
Today’s prayer: “GOD MY FATHER, Thank YOU for loving me, even when I am not trustworthy. Help me to follow you. I can trust YOU more than myself for YOU are ABSOLUTE TRUST. Amen.”
May the favor of the Lord our God rest on us; establish the work of our hands for us-yes, establish the work of our hands. Psalm 90:17 NIV

Do you ever feel you just don’t have enough time? Are your days just too short? We all have the same amount of time. The clock is not extendable. GOD gave us all the same time; 60 seconds in a minute, 60 minutes in a hour, 24 hours in a day, 7 days in a week, 4.3 weeks in a month and we still think we don’t have enough time.
How much time do you need? You have enough. It is not about having enough time. It is all about using your time more efficiently by setting priorities. So, what are your priorities? Are you setting priorities? Every morning, set out with your list of priorities. Establish the list from the absolute requirements to those things which are not so important. One priority is scheduling time to help others.
Is it get job done at all cost? In order to know success, we need to work smart not hard. We spend too much time correcting our mistakes when we did not do something right the first time. Distractions also have a tremendous impact upon our ability to complete a task.
Scripture tells us to rest. JESUS left HIS disciples many times to go alone to rest and to pray. We need to follow HIS example. Rest is essential for the body. Prayer is essential for the body, mind and spirit.
GOD has time for you. Do you take time for GOD? You will find you have more time when you give back to GOD the time HE has given you. Make GOD your most important priority. Then, you will discover you have more time for other things.
Today’s prayer: “HOLY LORD, Thank YOU for taking time to guide me as YOU would choose. Help me today to do all that needs to be done as YOU direct my thoughts and actions. I will give back to YOU the most important time each day. Amen.”
“Blessed is the one whose sin the Lord will never count against them.”

Do you depend upon numbers in your life? Have you ever had a problem balancing your checkbook? The numbers in your checkbook just don’t match the numbers from your bank. Chances are, the math error is in your checkbook.
More and more restaurants are printing the number of calories of meals on their menus. I recently saw an item with 3,300 calories on the same menu as one with only 575 calories. We can use these numbers to our benefit.
Look at other numbers. What are the number of times you pray each day? What about the number of times you go to church each month…whenever the doors are open or only when it is convenient with your schedule? How about the number of times you help someone without being asked? Or how about that checkbook? How many checks are you writing to help spread the Gospel as JESUS told us to do?
There are other numbers that don’t lie as well. How many times today did you turn your back on a friend or how many times have you uttered GOD’S name in vain or used language you know is not what GOD expects of you?
Numbers don’t lie! Are you counting your blessings or are you counting all the blessing you are missing GOD has for you?
Today’s prayer: “JESUS, Thank YOU for all the times YOU have forgiven me…so many I can’t count them. Help me use all the opportunities YOU have given me to worship you. Amen.”
“Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others.” Philippians 2: 3,4 NIV

The conservative Irish parliamentarian of the 1700s, Edmund Burke, is most famous today from his quote; “The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing.” History has been changed and will be changed because we choose to do nothing.
You don’t need to be a famous inventor, the creator of a new medical procedure, or making a billion dollar donation. All you need to do is to do something. Something alone may not be your guiding force. You need to do the right thing.
Doing the right thing is following GOD’S lead. How do you follow GOD’S lead? Start your day in HIS word. Read HIS Word faithfully. Then, pray. Pray over HIS Word. Pray for others. Pray for your needs. But, most of all…pray in thanksgiving for all GOD has blessed you with, for all of HIS answered prayers and for all HE will do for you.
Or be in denial and do nothing. Do nothing and that is exactly what you will have. Nothing! It seems like a easy choice. But, look around you. Look at all the people who have nothing. It is not just about material things. Look at the people who have no hope, no desires and you will find someone who has no faith.
Do nothing or do what GOD wants for you. You have a choice. Make the right choice.
Today’s prayer: “Thank YOU, LORD, for giving me the hopes and desires to do more than nothing. Thank YOU for the faith that comes only from YOU. Help me to day to do all YOU want me to do. Amen.”
