“And when you pray, do not keep on babbling like pagans, for they think they will be heard because of their many words.  Do not be like them, for your Father knows what you need before you ask him.”   Matthew 6:7,8 NIV

Eight year old Shelly knelt by her bed as her Mom and Dad had taught her.   She thanked GOD for her Mom and Dad and all the things she could think.   Then, she added sincerely; “And GOD can you bring my little brother, Billy, some brains.  I know he is only four, but LORD, I don’t think he has any brains.  Can you give him some brains?”

We might smile at what we just read.   But, we may be praying like Shelly.   We sometimes have the answer all worked out in our own minds and think all we have to do is tell GOD the solution to our problems.  After all, we may think; I know me better than anyone else.  You may know you better than your next door neighbor or even your very best friend.  But, I promise you, GOD knows you better than you know yourself.

Next time you feel you have the answer to your problem and all GOD has to do is to do what you tell HIM to do, think again.  Hmm…seems you are the one in the situation that is in need of GOD’S help.  GOD is never in a situation where HE needs help.   Never.

If you knew what is best, you would not be asking GOD to give you the answer to your situation.   Think about it.  Are you praying as Shelly?

Today’s prayer:  “Thank YOU, LORD, for hearing all my prayers of appreciation, requests and ramblings.  Forgive me when my prayers are demanding.   Give me patience and faith to be obedient to YOUR plan and solutions to all.   Amen.”

“Then I will give you shepherds after my own heart, who will lead you with knowledge and understanding.”  Jeremiah 3:15 NIV

A lady was being introduced to a man at a casual gathering.   Just before the meal, he was excusing himself to lead the group in a prayer before the meal.  In a voice of disbelief, she said; “Oh, you’re one of those Bible thumpers!”   He politely responded; “And proud of it!”

Have you ever been accused of being a Bible thumper?   If not, why not?  We all should be proud of our faith in our loving GOD.

Too much emphasis has been placed on being politically correct and not enough on being truthfully correct as GOD has taught us.  When we allowed prayer to be removed from our schools, we allowed our society to go into a tailspin of destruction.   When we allowed GOD to be placed secondary to public opinion, we started the destruction of our society.

While we should be expressing our faith in our CREATOR, we don’t need to beat others over the head with a baseball bat or our Bibles.   JESUS brought us grace.   We should love and teach others with the grace HE has given us.

GOD has cautioned us throughout scripture of our failings and obedience.

While most will fall short and never enter the Kingdom of Heaven, we are to spread HIS gospel message so as many as possible can spend eternity with our TRIUNE LORD.  Be a Bible thumper…a Bible thumper filled with the loving grace of our GOD.

Today’ prayer:   “Thank YOU, LORD, for teaching me from YOUR WORD.   Today, I will start being more graceful in my walk with YOU and more vocal in my teaching of YOUR WORD.  Amen.”

“I will sing to the Lord all my life; I will sing praise to my God as long as I live.”   Psalm 104:33 NIV

Read:   Psalm 104:  31-35

Time is like money.  When you are out of it,  there is no more.   You cannot print more money when you are broke and you cannot turn back the clock to create more time when you have used all your minutes.

No matter how much money and possessions we have, our society has convinced us we need just a little more.   Just a little more has become the standard we have chosen to live by.  All we gain, we will leave to others.   In time when our minutes are over we will have no need for any measure of gold or silver.

You can leave all your gains to others who will spend it as they see, not as you would have chosen.   If you believe you will be helping family or others, you might.  Often you may not be helping, but complicating the lives of some whom cannot handle it responsibly

Time is like money.   It has a value all its own.   At the end of your time you will discover if you have not already, time is more valuable than any amount of money.   When you are at your days, how much would you pay for another hour or another year?

GOD is in control.   HE can bless you with money for a time and HE can bless you with time to enjoy this life and HE can stop that time when HE alone chooses.

Are you a good steward of the money and time GOD has entrusted you with?   Are you praising HIM with the money and time?

Today’s prayer:  “GOD MY CREATOR, Thank YOU for the money and financial comforts YOU have allowed me to use.  I understand the time YOU have allowed me is now much more valuable than money.  Amen.”

“Sing praises to God, sing praises; sing praises to our King, sing praises. For God is the King of all the earth; sing to him a psalm of praise.”   Psalm 47:6,7 NIV

Read:  Psalm 47

As the church congregation raised their voices in an old familiar hymn, my oldest son (16 at the time) leaned over and whispered in my ear:  “Not so loud, Dad, people can hear you!”   I loved to sing, but could not carry a tune in a bucket.  I have since learned to sing…not great…but, pretty good.  We can all learn to improve.

A minister friend told me his choir teacher in school asked him if he was a tenor.   He replied he thought he was a bass.   The teacher responded he did not mean a tenor.   He was asking if he would sing ten or twelve miles away.   He told me he still sings because he knows GOD likes his voice!

Others can be critical of our efforts.  They can criticize our singing, our driving, our cooking or a hundred other things we do.   Not to worry or have concerns.   GOD is the only judge that matters.   Don’t let the loose tongue of another dissuade you.

Raise your voice and sing your praises to your HEAVENLY FATHER.  HE is listening for you.   No matter your voice quality to others, you have perfect tone and pitch for GOD’S ears.   Sing today.  HE is waiting to hear your praises.

Today’s prayer:   “LORD GOD, Thank YOU for always hearing me and accepting my best efforts to please YOU.  Help me to reflect your love and grace to those who need to hear YOUR gospel story.  Amen.”

“So that there should be no division in the body, but that its parts should have equal concern for each other.”

1Corinthians 12:25 NIV

Apathy!   Our dictionaries tell us apathy is a lack of concern or a lack of interest.  It seems apathy is spreading across our great nation.  Yet, no one seems to care…  These sentences might sound like a pun and bring a smile to your face, but it is no laughing matter.
Our Bibles tell us what GOD wants us to do.   HE tells us HIS desires and expectations for all those HE created.   As we read HIS word, we can be apathetic and continue doing as we please while ignoring all our LORD has told us to do.

Political correctness has been a major contributor to our apathetic nation.   We seem to more concerned with being politically correct than pleasing our GOD.

How about you?  Do you really care or are you more concerned with being politically correct than being obedient to GOD?    ‘Thou shall’ and ‘Thou shall not’ are not suggestions.   There is no such thing as being just a little wrong or  being right most of the time.   Do you think you can do as you want and refuse all GOD has told you to do?

Today is the day you can throw being politically correct out the window and start living as GOD has told you to do.  Obedience is far better than siding with non-believers and doing as Satan wants you to do.   Apathy is Satan’s friend.   Don’t make apathy your friend.

Today’s prayer:   “FATHER GOD, Please forgive me.   There are times I have apathetic and more concerned with being politically correct than being obedient to YOUR word.  I will be more true to YOU.  Amen.”

“Cast your cares on the Lord and he will sustain you; he will never let the righteous be shaken.”   Psalm 55:22

Read:  Psalm 55

What might sound like a politically incorrect phrase is a more correct slang term than what you might believe.   As new Americans traveled west, they literally invaded the lands Native American Indians had known to be theirs.   Then they were ‘given’ back portions of their land by treaty, rounded up and forced to live on the reservations under strict laws.

Then these invaders…our forefathers…took back land that had been given to the rightful owners.  The term ‘Indian giver’ was coined.   These new Americans became ‘Indian givers’.  They gave to the defeated Native Americans and then took it back; breaking the treaties.  Our forefathers were the real ‘Indian givers!’

Taking back is something we do all to often.  JESUS died on that cross so that HE could take on all our sins and burdens.   We can take those problems and lay them…all of them…at the foot of HIS cross.  Still, we have a habit of taking them back.   We pray for HIS help with a situation and yet we take it back to do or worry about it ourselves ignoring the fact that GOD does not need our help.

Do we think we so self righteous, so in control, so much better than GOD at solving our problems that we don’t trust GOD to fix all our problems? None of us can fix a problem, heal a pain, protect the innocent or stop a tear like our SAVIOUR does everyday.   Give up on depending upon yourself and give all your problems to HIM.

Today’s prayer:  “MY HEALER AND PROTECTOR, Thank YOU for loving me and taking care of all my problems.   I promise to stop relying upon myself and to depend only upon YOU.  Amen.”

“YOU, GOD, know my folly; my guilt is not hidden from YOU.”  Psalm 69:5

Psalm 69:1-18

Aren’t clear cellophane and plastics wonderful?  They protect the contents and allow us to see products clearly.  I like to see what I am buying.   Boxes and printed bags hide the contents.

We are a lot like the printed bags and boxes.   We tell others who we are, but we block them from seeing who we really are inside.   Just like the box proclaiming its contents are new and improved, we are often less than we advertise.

No matter what we want others to think we are, GOD knows who we are.  HE knows our good and HE knows our bad.   Like the old saying; you can fool some of the people all the time and all of the people some of the time, but you cannot fool all of the people all of the time.

We need to understand, we cannot fool GOD any of the time.  But, we have something better.   We can have the forgiveness that can only come from a merciful GOD.  Are you hiding dark shadows and a life of sin that needs to be forgiven?   You don’t have to live with those burdens any longer.   Today, you can have a joyful peace; living in the comfort of the loving arms of JESUS.   Tell HIM of the mistakes you have made, of the wrongful things you have done.  Tell HIM of the burdens you have carried all too long and be prepared to be forgiven and spared the agony of all your past.

Today’s prayer:  “LORD JESUS Thank YOU for all YOU have done and will do for me.  Forgive me for all my past sins and errors I have made.  I trust YOU and accept YOU as my SAVIOUR.   Amen.”

“Then the Lord God formed a man from the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living being.”    Genesis 2:7

Read:  Genesis 2:1-25

It seems some are obsessed with trivia and have a need to know every little detail.  You know everyone has a belly button.  But not always.   Our Bibles tell us GOD created Adam and then created Eve.   Since there was no umbilical cord, there was no belly button.   Adam and Eve were created by the hand of GOD.

The world sometimes ponders on the obvious.  GOD has given us the answers. ‘Which came first, the chicken or the egg?’   Again, scripture tells us GOD created all living things.   Birds were created by GOD.   Their reproduction process was also created by GOD.   Then came the egg.

GOD tells us everything we need to know.   The Bible solves all the questions we may have.  If we are still in doubt…all we have to do is ask GOD in prayer.   We need the eyes to see all HE has written and a heart and ears to hear HIM.   It is not difficult.  We make life more difficult in our own foolish minds.

Forget the trivia and go for the truth…the truth that only comes from GOD.

Today’s prayer:  “FATHER GOD, Thank YOU for creating me and giving me the life YOU chose.   Help me to be less concerned with the trivia of this world and more aware of all YOU want me to know.  Amen.”

“But when they looked up, they saw that the stone, which was very large, had been rolled away.”   Mark 16:4 NIV

Read:  Mark 16: 1-20

Can you move a 1,000 pound boulder?   The stone sealing JESUS’ tomb probably weighed between 1,000 and 2,500 pounds.  If it were round, it was set in a groove cut into the surrounding rock or blocked with stones to support it.   Some archeologists believe the stone was not perfectly round or had a carved flat bottom so that once placed it could not be rolled out.

This is one of the facts that logically prove the stone was not easily moved without the aid of many men.  Yet, even with Roman soldiers guarding, the stone was moved in silence.   JESUS defeated death and was raised to walk from that tomb.  From that night, HE was seen by hundreds; proving HE was indeed the SON of the MOST HIGH GOD.

RESURRECTION SUNDAY is not about Easter bunnies and candy eggs.  Today is the day to celebrate the RISEN SAVIOUR who died a torturing humanly death so you can live in eternity in Heaven.

By believing in JESUS, you can live eternity in Heaven.  If you have never accepted JESUS as your SAVIOUR, today is the day.  Simply pray:  “JESUS, I do believe in YOU and ask YOU to accept me into YOUR kingdom.   Please forgive all my sins.  My life is YOURS.  Amen.”

If you have been saved and have not been walking in faith, ask JESUS to forgive you and set today as the day you re-dedicated your life to HIM.

Today’s prayer:  “MY RISEN SAVIOUR, Thank YOU for accepting me in all my failings.  Thank YOU for forgiving my sins and rising again to take me into Heaven to live with YOU for all eternity.   Amen.”
