“BRING MY BROTHER BRAINS!”

“And when you pray, do not keep on babbling like pagans, for they think they will be heard because of their many words.  Do not be like them, for your Father knows what you need before you ask him.”   Matthew 6:7,8 NIV

Read:   Matthew 6:5-13

Eight year old Shelly knelt by her bed as her Mom and Dad had taught her.   She thanked GOD for her Mom and Dad and all the things she could think.   Then, she added sincerely; “And GOD can you bring my little brother, Billy, some brains.  I know he is only four, but LORD, I don’t think he has any brains.  Can you give him some brains?”

We might smile at what we just read.   But, we may be praying like Shelly.   We sometimes have the answer all worked out in our own minds and think all we have to do is tell GOD the solution to our problems.  After all, we may think; I know me better than anyone else.  You may know you better than your next door neighbor or even your very best friend.  But, I promise you, GOD knows you better than you know yourself.

Next time you feel you have the answer to your problem and all GOD has to do is to do what you tell HIM to do, think again.  Hmm…seems you are the one in the situation that is in need of GOD’S help.  GOD is never in a situation where HE needs help.   Never.

If you knew what is best, you would not be asking GOD to give you the answer to your situation.   Think about it.  Are you praying as Shelly?

Today’s prayer:  “Thank YOU, LORD, for hearing all my prayers of appreciation, requests and ramblings.  Forgive me when my prayers are demanding.   Give me patience and faith to be obedient to YOUR plan and solutions to all.   Amen.”
