“YOU JUST DON’T UNDERSTAND!” Sunday Sermonette

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding;”  Proverbs 3:5 NIV   Read:   Proverbs 3:5-8   Have you ever tried to explain a situation to someone who just didn’t understand?   The more you explain, it seems they just don’t understand.  They just don’t get it.   Sometimes, we are so into ourselves, our way of doing and thinking, we forget others may see things differently.    We may be right in what we believe, but we might also be less than right.   In fact, we may be dead wrong.   Did you ever hear there are two kinds of people in this world?   There is you, then there is everyone else.  Do you feel you think differently than everyone else?   Do you ever feel you know you are right and wonder why others don’t see things your way?   GOD did make you unique.   You may look different.  You may be taller, shorter, better looking or maybe less attractive than you would prefer.   Your hair may be thinner or thicker than a lot of others.   And face it, you may be thinner or thicker than others as well.   GOD made you the way you are.   But, HE did not make you so completely different than everyone else so that you can believe you know more or are wiser than everyone else.   Just look at those around you.   GOD created them, just as HE created you.   HE created each of us as HE alone decided.   So, when someone doesn’t understand you, stop.   Ask yourself why they don’t understand you.   Look at the...

“STOP, IT HURTS TOO MUCH!” Wednesday Minute

“All my longings lie open before you, Lord; my sighing is not hidden from you.”   Psalm 38: 9 NIV   Read:  Psalm 38:9-22   Emotional and physical pain can be so tremendous we want to scream: “Stop, it hurts too much”.   We take and take and when we get to a point, it seems we can’t take any more, but we can.   We can go another step.   We can take on more.   We can endure more.   We can depend upon GOD, when it seems GOD has abandoned us during these painful times.  GOD is always there, even when it seems HE is nowhere in sight.   When Moses was struggling to free his people from Egypt, Pharaoh hardened his heart and put more burdens on the people.   He increased their workload.   He demanded they make even more bricks.   How could they believe and follow Moses when his efforts for freedom increased the work and pain by going to Pharaoh?   Have you gone through a similar time?   Maybe, you are going thru the tortures of emotional or physical pain today.  There is hope.  Not a little hope…a lot of hope.   And it may get worse.  Just as with GOD’S people in Egypt it will be temporary.    You have a blessing coming to you.   You may not be able to see or understand what GOD has for you, still GOD has a plan for your life to be better.   The emotional or physical pain may get worse before it gets better, but GOD is with you and HE is offering you HIS strength....

“AS SUBTLE AS A SLEDGEHAMMER!” Sunday Sermonette

“Is Christ divided? Was Paul crucified for you? Were you baptized in the name of Paul? I thank God that I did not baptize any of you except Crispus and Gaius, so no one can say that you were baptized in my name.  1Corinthians 1:13-15 NIV    Read:   1Corinthians 1:10-31   Have you ever known someone who was very direct, who was as subtle as a sledgehammer?   You probably would not describe a sledgehammer to your face or any contact with any part of your body as very subtle.   There are times when we need that sledgehammer of truth.  There are times when a shadowy offering of information just does not convey the message.   Paul was a sledgehammer of truth.    While known as Saul, he slaughtered Christians.   Saul was a hater of Christians, a vile and angry man.   Then JESUS called him into the family of believers, but not patiently.   JESUS blinded Saul and took him to his knees in order to get Saul’s attention.   Saul found JESUS and accepted the name of Paul as JESUS instructed.  Then, Paul carried the sledgehammer of truth, the Gospel of JESUS.    When he preached, he preached the truth.   When the churches were being established he spoke of the wonderful grace of JESUS.  But, when they turned and did not listen he told them again message of JESUS CHRIST with the strength of a sledgehammer.   Can you, when needed, tell others of the wonderful world of JESUS, your SAVIOUR, the SON OF GOD with the strength of a sledgehammer?   Today’s prayer:  “JESUS, MY SAVIOUR, Thank YOU...

“DO YOU HAVE DISCERNMENT?” Wednesday Minute

“I am your servant; give me discernment that I may understand your statutes.”  Psalm 119:125    Read:  Psalm 119:121-128   Do you have discernment?   Some do and some don’t.   The dictionary tells us in everyday life if we have perception we have discernment.  Would you like discernment?   Discernment comes from faith.   We can have discernment because the SPIRIT OF GOD is alive in us as believers.   GOD leads us with a clear understanding without having a conscious, worldly judgment.   You can have discernment of understanding even the most complicated lessons of scripture.   You can have discernment of good or bad reasons, knowing the purpose or motives of others in a situation.  Discernment of the whys and why nots of any situation is the HOLY SPIRIT guiding you by HIS perfection.   Those who have not accepted JESUS as their SAVIOUR will not have discernment.   The HOLY SPIRIT comes only to those who have admitted their sinful lives and accepted the eternal forgiveness given by JESUS.  Then you can call upon the SPIRIT OF GOD alive in you at any time.   HE will guide you with discernment if you will follow HIS lead.   The more you have discernment of GOD’S WORD, the more you will have discernment of situations and of others in your daily life.   Today’s prayer:  “Thank YOU, LORD, for giving me YOUR guidance through YOUR discernment.   Help me to call upon YOU when I need the clarity of understand of judgment that comes only through YOU.  Amen.”...
