“Direct me in the path of your commands, for there I find delight.”

Psalm 119:35 NIV

Read: Psalm 119: 10-35

This Christmas you may have the opportunity to assemble a toy or gift for a loved one. Many times, we buy a gift only to find it is not assembled and the box is full of a dozen or more parts along with a set of instructions in a half dozen languages.

As we go through the motions of ‘tab D in slot 6’, we can find ourselves looking at something that is not quite right. That is usually when we decide to read the instructions. Almost instantly, we see in our anxiousness to put the parts together, we skipped step 3! Now, we have to dis-assemble part of our work so we can complete the forgotten step.

Our Christian walk sometimes is like that. We all too often, thinking we know better than GOD, do things our way. After all, we know what we are to do and think there is no reason to read the directions. These are the times that things seem to be going well and then adversity sits in, disappointment overwhelms us or a problem presents itself that seems to undermine our faith.

There is one solution. Read the instructions. GOD gave us HIS word. Scripture is not to be read one time as an instruction manual. GOD created HIS Bible as an ongoing conversation with us. HIS Bible is not just an instruction book but it serves as a daily reference of what GOD wants and expects from us.

When we take the time to study HIS word daily, we will have less chance of creating problems with our lives. When we are in the scriptures daily, we will find our daily activities are GOD centered and we are less likely to be the victim of Satan’s attacks.

Don’t forget step 3! GOD is there to help you assemble your life…daily, minute by minute.

Today’s Prayer: “Dear GOD, Thank YOU for giving me your word as directions to live my life as YOU desire. Help me to be obedient to your instructions. Amen.”
