“If you falter in a time of trouble, how small is your strength!”  Proverbs 24:10 NIV

Read:  Proverbs 24:10-22

In a flashback from decades ago, some days, do you ‘feel your Wheaties’ or do you feel like you are not doing so well?   Like most, you have those good days and those not so good days.   Most days you are probably somewhere in between.

The truth is strength and weakness have more in common than you might imagine.  When we are so dependent upon ourselves, we might take either to extremes.  Too much or too little misplaced confidence or uncertainty can have disastrous results.

When we put our dependence upon GOD alone, we can trust HIM with stability rather than highs on lows of self dependence.

The writer of Hebrews (many believe it was Paul) tells us of great prophets and kings of the Old Testament in Hebrews 11:34: “quenched the fury of the flames, and escaped the edge of the sword; whose weakness was turned to strength; and who became powerful in battle and routed foreign armies.”

Your weakness can be turned into strength when you rely upon the strength coming from GOD.  Relying upon yourself will sooner or later weaken your strength.   GOD alone can strengthen you weakness.

Today’s prayer:  “LORD GOD, Thank YOU for the strength that comes from only YOU.  Thank YOU for teaching me from YOUR word.   Help me today to recognize the weakness of my own strength and the strength of my weakness when I depend upon YOU.  Amen.”
